Restaurants

Carcassonne
The fortress of Carcassonne is an impressive medieval city perched on a hill. With its massive ramparts, towers and historic buildings, it is one of the best-preserved fortresses in Europe.
The ramparts of the fortress stretch for 3 kilometres and offer breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Visitors can walk along the walls and enjoy the majestic view.

Markets & Shopping
Every Sunday from 8am-1pm, people meet at the cosy market in our neighbouring village Trèbes. Fresh oysters, local olive oil, clothes and handicrafts are offered directly at the basin on the Canal du Midi. The bigger markets are in Carcassonne, 20 minutes away. On different days.

As a bad-weather programme, you will find the new Rocadest shopping centre just outside Carcassonne. On 40'000 m2 you can shop and eat comfortably.
Limousis Cave
The Grotte de Limousis is a fascinating cave in the Occitania region of southern France. It is located near the village of Limousis, about 20 kilometres northeast of Carcassonne. The cave is known for its impressive stalactite formations and its archaeological significance.
The grotto extends over a length of about 800 metres, of which, however, only about 300 metres are accessible to the public. Visitors to the Grotte de Limousis can discover a fascinating underworld with breathtaking stalactites, stalagmites and other dripstone formations. Parc Australia
The park covers a wide area and is divided into different sections representing the different ecosystems of Australia. One of the main attractions of the park is the animals. Parc Australia is home to an impressive variety of native Australian species. From kangaroos and koalas to exotic bird species such as the cockatoo and emu, there is much to discover here. Visitors have the opportunity to observe these fascinating animals up close and even interact with some of them.

Les 4 Châteaux de Lastours
Les 4 Châteaux de Lastours are a group of historic castles near the village of Lastours in the Occitanie region of France. Perched on high cliffs above the Orbiel River, the castles offer stunning views and are a popular tourist destination.

Gouffre Géant de Cabrespine
The Gouffre Géant de Cabrespine is one of the largest stalactite caves in Europe and stretches over an impressive length of more than 150 metres. Visitors are mesmerised by the beautiful formations of stalactites and stalagmites in the various cave chambers, which come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. The cave offers a surreal world of fascinating underground landscapes formed by thousands of years of geological activity.

A visit to the Gouffre Géant de Cabrespine is an adventure for the senses. The lighting has been specially designed to emphasise the beauty of the stalactite formations and create a mystical atmosphere. The cave is open all year round and the constant temperature of around 14 degrees Celsius makes it an ideal place to visit, regardless of the season.
Reserve Africaine de Sigean
The "Réserve Africaine de Sigean" is a wildlife park and reserve located near the coast and only 50 minutes from Marseillette. The reserve was founded in 1974 and covers an area of about 300 hectares. It is known for a variety of wildlife from Africa and other continents, kept in a largely natural environment.
The main objectives of the Réserve Africaine de Sigean are conservation, education and research. The park offers visitors the opportunity to observe animals in their natural environment without the need for a safari in Africa. There are several areas within the park, including the savannah where zebras, giraffes, antelopes and rhinos roam freely. The "Gorilla Island" houses a group of gorillas that are kept in an environment similar to their natural habitat.
In addition to the open enclosures, there are also areas where predators such as lions, tigers and bears live. These areas are designed so that the animals can be safely observed by visitors, but also have enough space and hiding places.
The "Réserve Africaine de Sigean" offers a unique opportunity to experience a variety of wildlife from different parts of the world and at the same time raise awareness for conservation.
Lac de la Cavayère
Lac de la Cavayère is a beautiful artificial lake near Carcassonne. With a surface area of 90 hectares, it offers numerous outdoor activities. The lake invites you to swim, sail, canoe and stand-up paddle. There is a water park, hiking trails, a high ropes course, an adventure park and a mini golf course. Surrounded by pine forests and hills, the lake offers an idyllic setting for nature lovers and families.

Canal du Midi
Les Petites Ecuries is located directly on the Canal du Midi. Whether on foot or by bike, you can stroll along one of the most beautiful canals in Europe. Then as now, it meanders through magnificent landscapes. Trees line the banks and shade the roads and paths. The next lock is just a five-minute walk away. The canal was built from 1667 to 1681, under the planning of Pierre-Paul Riquet. The union with the Canal de Garonne connects the Atlantic with the Mediterranean. The Canal du Midi has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.

Why not add a week with a houseboat after or before your holiday? The nearest base of "Le Boat" is in the neighbouring town of Trèbes.

Narbonne
Narbonne's main sights include the cathedral, an impressive Gothic building with an imposing bell tower. The Romanesque basilica of Saint-Paul-Serge and Roman remains such as the Horreum, an underground granary, are also popular sightseeing destinations.

Narbonne also has a lively old town with narrow streets, picturesque squares and a variety of shops, cafés and restaurants. The city is known for its market halls and culinary specialities, including Muscat wine and cassoulet, a hearty stew of beans, meat and sausages. Perpignan
A day trip to Perpignan is definitely worthwhile. In the 13th century, Perpignan was the capital of the Kingdom of Mallorca and a clear Catalan influence can be seen in its medieval city center. The huge Palace of the Kings of Mallorca, in Gothic and Romanesque style, is located south of the old town and has fortress walls overlooking the coastline
Perpignan is also known for its vibrant culture, including its festivals, musical events and markets. One of the most famous festivals is the Fête de la Saint-Vincent, a traditional wine festival celebrated annually in June.

Lac de Jouarres
The Lac de Jouarres is an ideal swimming lake that can be reached by bike along the Canal du Midi in an hour or by car in 25 minutes. The lake is located near the commune of Olonzac in the department of Hérault and is a popular destination for leisure activities such as swimming, sailing, fishing and hiking. You can hire SUPs, canoes and other equipment. In the water, a bouncy castle provides fun and action for children. Admission is free. There is a charge for activities.
A little tip: there is a lovely market in Olonzac on Tuesday from 7.00 am to 1.00 pm.

Minerve
The village is located on a steep rocky outcrop in the Haut-Languedoc Regional Nature Park and is surrounded by the Cesse and Brian rivers, which have carved deep gorges into the surrounding limestone landscape. From Marseillette, you can reach Minerve in 40 minutes (33 km).

The narrow, cobbled streets of the village invite you to take a stroll and discover charming houses, small shops and cosy cafés.
